Background to the Project

_

Alexander Stevenson has been drawing from Leicester's archaeology. His intention is to create artworks that will be of historic and symbolic relevance to Leicester, but that will also open up wider dialogues between it's inhabitants.

Once made, the artworks will be exhibited, and scrutinized by a number of experts: recording of these interpretations becoming a part of the work. Every individual will been selected for their perceptive abilities, their academic or cultural expertise, and all will in some way represent Leicester. Each will be asked to interpret the artworks according to their particular field, or bring meaning and symbolism to the artworks from their cultural background.

There are no set outcomes for the final exhibitions, though it is likely to include audio, photographs, and orriginal artworks, plus a research document/ exhibition catalogue.
